Later this year Professor Sergei Guriev will take up the Deanship of the School. The Chief Communications Officer (CCO) is a member of the senior management team.   

The opportunity:

As a member of the Dean’s Senior Management Team, the CCO will deliver an integrated and comprehensive communications strategy to raise the School’s national and international profile.  The CCO will deliver communications and events that attract, inspire, and connect with its audiences. 

Main responsibilities include:

Leading communications (internal and external), public relations, public affairs, events, community engagement, and editorial planning and acting as a sponsor of change, the CCO will be responsible for:

  • Strategic Counsel - Provide advice and counsel on strategic communications, public affairs, and reputation management to the Dean and the School’s leadership, ensuring consistent messaging to, and engagement with, external and internal audiences.
  • Strategy and Planning - Develop and implement plans to deliver strategic communications, high quality events, community engagement, key elements of the Five-Year Plan, and the sustainability strategy, collaborating with and sharing expertise with all departments.
  • Leadership - Influence the strategic direction of the School, providing visible leadership as a powerful advocate.
  • Change Management - Champion change across the School by acting as a sponsor and by modelling the expected behaviours to win hearts and minds.
  • People - Promote a culture where staff can belong and thrive.

Required skills, experience, and abilities include: 

  • Executive Committee or Senior Management Team experience in a complex, global or international organisation.
  • A track record of effective C-suite counsel, strategic communications, and delivery within a complex organisation with multiple competing demands.
  • Deep knowledge of the legislative, regulatory and standards environment.
  • A non-hierarchical leader with strong influencing and stakeholder management skills, able to influence other senior leaders and sustain internal relationships at all levels.
  • Experience of leading organisation-wide business change or transformation programmes, including the engagement of employees and stakeholders.
  • Significant people management experience with experience of leading a multi-disciplined workforce.
