The Organisation:
The Federation of Master Builders (FMB) is the largest trade association in the UK construction sector, representing over 7,000 small and medium-sized building companies. Lobbying for their members’ interests and providing services, advice, and a community to support then to grow, improve and protect their businesses.
The Opportunity
You will work to form effective relationships with politicians, policy makers, and the media, to help shape the reputation of the FMB at national and local levels.
Main Responsibilities:
- You will be monitoring political and policy developments and their impact on construction SMEs.
- Develop robust policy positions on a range of issues of importance to FMB members.
- Creating and developing relationships with key political stakeholders, at the national and local level, additionally managing a cross-party Parliamentary contact and influencing programme.
- Build relationships with civil servants and industry stakeholders to help deliver the strategic objectives of the FMB.
- Create opportunities to influence public policy via the media.
Experienced Required:
- Experience of working in a policy, public affairs, or political role.
- In depth knowledge of UK policy-making and political processes.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Reactive media experience – working in fast-paced news environment, manage and assist with numerous enquiries or projects simultaneously and still deliver to deadlines.
- Experience building and maintaining key stakeholder relationships on behalf of members.
