An exciting Government Affairs executive opportunity

The Opportunity

Our client, is a global membership body in the professional services sector, specialising in family inheritance and succession planning. They work to improve public understanding of the issues families face in this area and promote education and high professional standards among members.
They are searching for a Government Affairs Executive assist delivery of public policy and to work closely with the Government Affairs Manager to engage external and internal stakeholders on policy issues of relevance to the organisation and promote its campaigning objectives. 

Main responsibilities

  • Responsible for coordinating and submitting consultation responses. Including drafting a briefing note, setting up the committee, scheduling and chairing conference calls, and writing sections of the response as well as posting on the policy news page
  • Provide policy research on matters related to the Membership and Thought Leadership campaigns
  • Assist in the development and delivery of comprehensive and effective campaigns and strategies
  • Assist in copywriting, including press releases, speeches, articles, consultation responses, research reports, media and policy briefings
  • Monitor coverage of the organisation, industry, political and economic affairs in international, UK national and major UK regional broadcast media, print media and monitor policy issues worldwide

Key skills and experience required

  • Experience working in a similar government affairs of policy advocacy role
  • Campaign experience or engagement with political stakeholders
  • Ability to quickly grasp complex policy and communicate it effectively and confidently to both expert and non- technical audiences
  • Ability to draft high quality submissions and reports on a wide range of issues, often to demanding deadlines
  • An understanding of the UK political arenas, European and international political understanding would be beneficial

This role requires occasional travel to Brussels and across the UK
