Exciting new transformation project seeks Head of Internal Communications

The opportunity

My client is an organisation responsible for a billion-pound project to transform an important part of our services. They are looking for a Head of Internal Communications to implement and deliver a communications strategy across, stakeholder engagement, employee engagement, change communications, HR communications and internal comms. You will be strategic but also happy to roll up your sleeves and deliver. This is a newly created role within a new project, you will need to be diplomatic with strong internal stakeholder experience. This is an exciting opportunity to shape the communications for this unique transformation. This role is predominantly remote working, however, you must be prepared to travel to Portsmouth as and when required (when offices have returned).

Main responsibilities

  • Develop and deliver the employee and stakeholder communications strategy and plans in line with the people priorities for the organisation to keep colleagues and key stakeholders informed and engaged
  • Develop and nurture strong relationships with the client to ensure to a comprehensive and joined-up approach to communications
  • Manage internal communications channels ensuring that employee communications are delivered through the appropriate mix of channels and messages so that content is engaging, consistent, targeted and timely and builds understanding and advocacy for their strategy and purpose
  • Planning, writing and producing content for a variety of communications channels from intranet content through to communication cascades and presentations
  • Work with the transformation team to create and deliver informative and engaging campaigns to ensure colleagues buy-in to change
  • the latest developments in channels, creative approaches and technology and make recommendations on potential improvements to the divisional communications team where appropriate
  • Monitor, manage and report on reputational risk

Key skills and experience required

  • Solid experience in internal and corporate communication
  • A proven track record of designing and implementing strategic communications plans
  • Demonstrable experience in change communications
  • Experience of managing complex stakeholder relationships
  • Excellent written and presentation communication skills
  • A sound knowledge of internal and external communication best practice – can demonstrate sound creative judgment across a range of channels and methods of delivery
  • Proven track record in the delivery of high-impact communications to help deliver desired business outcomes
  • Experience of change management communications planning and execution
  • Sound business acumen, good organisational awareness and strategic approach to problem solving
  • Good interpersonal skills and the credibility to advise business leaders. Ability to build constructive and collaborative working relationships across all stakeholders
  • Experience of communications in a training / learning environment would be advantageous
