Interim opportunity to lead the corporate and trade PR for a global blue-chip brand company

The opportunity
Our client, a global FMCG company with a portfolio of premium brands, is looking for an experienced communications specialist to lead the day-to-day corporate and trade PR and be the first point of contact for brand and corporate crisis communications.
Main responsibilities

  • Lead proactive, reputation-building communications
  • Act as senior counsel to Executive Committee, proactively identifying media opportunities
  • Responsible for drafting high quality briefing documents, Q&As and thought-leadership posts for senior management
  • In charge of developing and delivering on-going programme of media training for company spokespeople
  • Leverage working relationships with national and trade journalists to positively influence business reputation
  • Represent the organisation with key stakeholders, industry bodies and key officials where required
  • Provide real time crisis communications support working alongside internal and external stakeholders
  • Oversee corporate digital channels including website, driving effective results through analytics and industry best-practice

Key skills and experience required

  • Significant and relevant professional experience within FMCG is essential
  • You must have a track record of delivery across national and specialist journalists plus FMCG trade press
  • A strong background in communications gained through journalism or from working in a Consumer PR agency
  • Ability to spot reactive media opportunities
  • Experience working in a press office function, media outlet or communications agency
  • Robust understanding of the UK media across all print and digital formats and particularly in Business, FMCG, Sustainability and Marketing sectors
  • Strong understanding of UK policy and issues relevant to FMCG
  • Proven ability to manage sensitive topics on behalf of a major business for external and internal communications
  • Experience of handling crisis situations
  • Proven ability to brief and prepare spokespeople for media interviews

This contract will run for 3 months initially, paying c.£70,000 pro rata, to start by the end of July.  Please apply below or email for more details.
