Exciting Policy and Data Analyst Opportunity at a membership body in the further education sector

The organisation
Ellwood Atfield is working exclusively with the National Centre for Universities and Business (NCUB), who are looking for a Policy and Data Analyst.

The NCUB represents the collective voice of the UK’s universities and leading businesses. It’s purpose is to unite policy makers, Universities and business; promote the skills and talent developed by Universities and optimise opportunities for the UK’s research and development projects.

The opportunity
The Policy and Data Analyst will play a crucial role in optimising the NCUB’S data analysis and research functions; utilising data science methodologies to obtain and analyse large-scale datasets relating to innovation, technology, skills and research development. You will work closely with the organisation’s Principal Economist to develop in-depth reports; foster strong professional ties with stakeholders to update their skills data science and policy analysis.

Key Responsibilities

  • Utilising sophisticated AI -driven data models, to gather and scrutinise complex data relating to innovation, technology, research and skills.
  • Carry out both qualitative and quantitative policy and economic research pertaining to research collaboration amongst Universities.
  • Conducting literature reviews across various fields of study, including technological innovation, industry-academia collaboration and labour productivity, to assist in knowledge gathering related to ongoing and upcoming projects.
  • Reviewing NCUB’s impact, by keeping track of where NCUB policy/research recommendations are being utilised.
  • Supporting in the development of reports, briefings and presentations designed to translate complex data findings into accessible information.
  • Assisting with the communication of policy/research outputs, including contributing to blogs, briefings, newsletters and research reports.
  • Engage with external stakeholders, including academic institutions, industry leaders, economists and other relevant stakeholders, to gather insights and build partnerships.
  • Keep up to date with developments in data science, economics and policy analysis techniques.

Key Skills and Experience required

  • Demonstrable background in policy analysis within the public, private or non-profit sector.
  • Strong understanding of both qualitative and quantitative research methodologies.
  • Ability to gather and disseminate complex data and present findings in an accessible manner to a non-technical audience.
  • Comfortable working across a team environment and developing ties with a range of stakeholders.
  • High quality written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience in working in labour markets, science, research and innovation policy.
