Exciting Press Officer opportunity at a leading royal college

The Opportunity
I am working with a reputable membership body in the health sector, who are looking for a Press and PR Officer on a permanent basis.

In this role, you will enhance the reputation of the organisation at the regional, national and international level and promote its work. You will regularly respond to media inquiries and act to mitigate any fall out of critical media coverage. You will also write regular content for the organisation's social media page and play a key role in advising policy and campaigns teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Producing articles, statements and press releases on a regular basis to raise the profile of the organisation in line with its policy and campaign priorities.
  • Playing a key editorial role in delivering the organisation’s magazine.
  • Responding quickly to negative or critical news stories and limit potential damage to the reputation of the organisation.
  • Liaising with departments across the UK to identify stories and publicise the wide breadth of  work.
  • Establishing and actively managing relationships with key national journalists, bloggers and opinion-formers to optimise impact of messaging.
  • Provide strategic communications advice to the Chair and Officers (senior management team), including out of hours media handling.

Knowledge and Experience

  • Previous experience in journalism, press office or a media environment.
  • Proven experience of running proactive public relations campaigns and crisis management.
  • Experience of working in a national membership organisation, charity or in a health-based environment.
