We do all of this in partnership with Government and the NHS so that patients get new treatments faster and the NHS can plan what it spends.

The Opportunity
The ABPI have recently gone through a restructure and are now growing their Government Affairs function. As the Public Affairs Manager, you will report into the Head of Government Affairs and have line management responsibility for one direct report. You will lead Public Affairs on commercial policy, including :

  • Access and uptake policy, including the Voluntary Pricing and Access Scheme
  • NICE Methods Review
  • Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR)

Main Responsibilities

  • The successful candidate will lead the public affairs strategy, developing briefings and policy papers that will improve access to medicines and vaccines whilst working closing with the Government, NHS and members
  • To build strong and robust relationships with key stakeholders which will enhance the ABPI’s reputation, including coordinating the engagement program and patient organisation forum
  • Representing the members at external committees and networks

Key Skills and Experience Required

  • Extensive experience in proactive public affairs and policy work around complex issues
  • Excellent knowledge of Westminster, Whitehall and the political environment
  • Proven track record of engagement and influencing high profile organisations including the NHS, government officials and pharmaceutical firms
  • Excellent relationship building and influencing skills: internally, with members and various stakeholders
  • Strong understanding of the HTA policy development
  • Credibility with senior peers and stakeholders that such a role requires and the ability to work in a collaborative fashion
  • Strong implementation skills
