About the role
This confident communications all-rounder will drive the organisation's social media, PR, and media activity. The time is split between social media and media relations with the aim of raising the profile of the industry and the activities of this organisation. The role will suit a driven a driven and passionate communications professional who understands the media and digital landscape, able to bring stories and issues to life.
This role is a 12-month contract, and is offered on a remote-working basis. Please note there will be expectation of occasional travel, such as for events and meetings.
Main responsibilities
- Proactively create inspiring, engaging, and informative content to be used across all of their digital channels and increase engagement with audiences and stakeholders
- Designing and creating assets for marketing campaigns and activity in line with branding guidelines
- Managing social channels, including scheduling, monitoring, and reporting
- Working with key stakeholders to promote their activities
- Working with colleagues to plan, shoot, edit, and deliver high-quality videos and photos for marketing activities and campaigns
- Creating awareness and interest within their audiences and stakeholder groups, driving engagement traffic
- Working with senior colleagues to establish a media framework and infrastructure including identifying and training spokespeople
- Identifying story opportunities within the organisation
- Writing and supporting on proactive and reactive press releases, comments, and quotes to communicate core messages
- Supporting on the creation and development of key messages on new and emerging issues, ensuring they are coordinated through the right media and communications channels
- Utilising the media monitoring service (Vuelio)
- Acting as the main point of contact for media requests, coordinating media interviews, and supporting on briefing staff and spokespeople
- Monitoring the press and reporting stories and developments to key staff
- Uploading press releases onto their website using the CMS system (Umbraco)
- Maintaining a comprehensive media contact database, building strong relationships with key journalists and media outlets
- Supporting on crisis communications when necessary
- Attending events, meetings, and functions as required
Experience Required
- Previous experience in a communications role, such as PR or social media, in-house or agency
- Keen interest and knowledge of environmental health issues
- Strong ability to form internal working relationships
- Strong written and verbal communications skills
- Ability to position stories and narratives to maximise impact
- Previous experience using a media monitoring service such as Vuelio, and CMS system such as Umbraco
- Ability to come up with new and creative ideas
