Ellwood Atfield is partnering with a leading global pharmaceutical company to appoint a Government Affairs Lead to play a senior role in shaping its engagement with Government, Parliament and the wider UK health and life sciences landscape.

‍

This is a senior deputy-level position reporting to the head of the function,  with significant exposure to the organisation's UK leadership. The successful candidate will provide strategic counsel on the political and policy environment while helping to strengthen the company's external profile and influence.

The role

‍

The Government Affairs Lead will:

‍

• Lead engagement on major UK medicines, health and life sciences policy issues.

• Provide strategic advice on developments across Westminster, Whitehall and the wider political environment.

• Build trusted relationships with Ministers, parliamentarians, officials and senior health sector stakeholders.

• Advise senior leadership on political risks, opportunities and engagement priorities.

• Develop high-quality briefings and positioning on complex policy issues.

• Represent the company externally and deputise for the Head when required.

• Help strengthen the company's corporate voice and visibility across the UK.

• Understanding of pricing and access policy and politics.

About you

‍

Direct pharmaceutical industry experience would be advantageous, but it is not essential. Applications are also welcomed from senior public affairs consultants, and wider, where candidates can demonstrate strong knowledge of the UK medicines policy environment.

‍

Above all, this role will suit somebody who enjoys external-facing public affairs. The organisation wants its team actively building relationships, engaging policymakers and contributing to the major conversations shaping the future of UK healthcare and life sciences.
