Main Responsibilities

  • Develop and deliver a proactive public affairs strategy aligned to organisational and commercial objectives.

  • Build and maintain trusted relationships across Westminster, Whitehall, trade associations and other key external stakeholders.
  • Manage external public affairs agencies, ensuring high-quality delivery and measurable outcomes.
  • Monitor the evolving political landscape, identifying emerging risks and opportunities.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues across communications, marketing, brand and wider business functions to deliver integrated campaigns.
  • Manage budgets and ensure public affairs activity demonstrates clear value and impact.

Skills & Experience

  • Significant experience leading public affairs within an in-house team, consultancy, trade association or comparable environment.
  • Proven experience gained within financial services is preferred.
  • Strong understanding of UK politics and the policy landscape, with experience engaging senior political and policy stakeholders.
  • Confidence advising and influencing senior executives, with experience operating in high-profile environments.
  • A strategic thinker who is equally comfortable rolling up their sleeves to deliver day-to-day activity.
  • Proven leadership experience, with a track record of coaching and developing others.
  • Commercial awareness and an understanding of how public affairs can support organisational growth and reputation.
  • Collaborative, proactive and intellectually curious, with excellent relationship-building and communication skills.
