The opportunity:

‍We are recruiting a fixed-term Policy Campaigns Manager to lead the campaigns function at ARUK. The Policy Campaigns Manager will report to the Senior Public Affairs and Campaigns Manager and have line management responsibilities for the Policy Campaigns Officer.

In this role you will be joining a friendly and fast-moving Policy and Public Affairs team, during an exciting year for dementia research as they campaign on their core mission for a cure. You will work closely with colleagues across the organisation to oversee their active campaigns and identify opportunities to mobilise their supporters and drive influence and impact for and with people affected by dementia.

You will lead the development of the campaigns function for ARUK, building on existing initiatives, championing best practice in campaigns and building their reach and engagement. You will also be responsible for working across a range of functions including their policy, research, communications, digital, brand and volunteering teams.

This is a 12-month FTC or on return of the substantive postholder.

Main responsibilities:

  • Lead delivery of ARUK’s live campaigns
  • Marshal ARUK’s campaigner base to advocate for change in dementia research and for people affected by dementia.
  • Devise, draft and publish excellent stakeholder and campaigning communications tailored to different audiences and approaches
  • Line manage one Policy Campaigns Officer.
  • Work closely with the Public Affairs team to ensure campaign activity supports wider government influencing objectives.
  • Build strong working relationships across internal teams, particularly Brand, Communications and Public Affairs.
  • Monitor campaign performance and ensure successful delivery against objectives

Key skills and experience required:

  • Experience of delivering successful national policy, advocacy, or public affairs campaigns.
  • Experience of working within charities, campaigning organisations, public affairs teams or politically-focused environments.
  • Line management experience
  • Leadership experience at a management level
  • Experience using CRM databases such as Raiser’s Edge and Salesforce and
  • Experience of matrix working, across professional and operational boundaries

Salary: Circa £44,000 per annum, plus benefits.

Ways of working:  

Their office is at 3 Riverside, Granta Park, Great Abington, Cambridge, CB21 6AD.

As part of their Agile ways of working you will be required to work approximately 2 days a week from the office, which is subject to the requirements of the role and the business needs. Flexibility on where you work can be split between working from home and their office.

Roles that are classed as part of the Agile ways of working are not able to claim any costs for Mileage/Travel on Public Transport, Accommodation and/or Meals.  This includes when attending the office for various meetings/events.
