Policy Manager (Prudential Reporting and Tax)

The opportunity
The trade association are looking for a Policy Manager to support the Prudential Reporting and Tax team in its engagement with members and external stakeholders across government, banks and regulators to lead on various area of policy development relating to prudential reporting and tax rules.
The role will be involved in undertaking evidence gathering and content development contributing to reports, thought leadership and cross-cutting initiatives such as media content, blogs and online material. This will include items such as the Total Tax Contribution document, Plan for Growth documents and other reports. The role will also offer opportunities to deputise for principles where needed and run individual workstreams as required as well as briefing and drafting of related papers, media content, blogs and online material.
Key Responsibilities
- Own relationships with subject matter experts and members on subjects relating to prudential reporting and tax.
- Supporting development of written responses to consultations discussion papers issued by the Prudential Regulation Authority, the Bank of England, HM Treasury, HMRC, the Department of Business and Trade and other external stakeholders.
- Ensuring policy proposals are supported by credible and integrated research.
- Working closely with media and communication teams to raise awareness of policy positions and priorities.
Key skills
- Ability to respond to member needs whilst actively seeking opportunities to innovate and add value.
- A strong working knowledge of the UK banking landscape including knowledge of the challenges and opportunities impacting the future of the UK banking industry.
- A track record of providing strategic analysis at pace and synthesise information and complex concepts into meaningful actions or proposals.
- Works collaboratively across all internal departments to harness skills and experience from across the business to deliver high quality services.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, the ability to work, and build relationships, with various stakeholders.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, clearly and accurately presents information using appropriate language to construct persuasive arguments and points of advocacy that is easy to understand.
- Comfortable using AI tools to enhance productivity and decision making in day-to-day work.
