Senior Internal Communications and Engagement Manager
The Opportunity
About the organisation:
Our client is a large, complex national organisation delivering one of the UK's biggest infrastructure programmes, with both a substantial direct workforce and an extensive delivery supply chain. It is in the middle of a significant organisational transformation, with internal communications and engagement seen as central to its success.
The opportunity:
This is a rare opportunity to lead internal communications and engagement for a workforce of tens of thousands, including a supply chain of around 30,000 people, at a pivotal moment for the organisation. You will help launch a new engagement platform for that wider workforce next year, and play a central role in communicating a major culture change and transformation programme already under way.
Main responsibilities:
- Develop and deliver an internal communications and engagement strategy that builds an inclusive culture aligned to the organisation's strategic priorities.
- Lead internal communications that inform and engage employees on business priorities and key delivery milestones, promoting the employee value proposition.
- Support change and transformation communications activity across the business, helping shape the culture needed to achieve organisational objectives.
- Build relationships across the organisation to secure buy-in and sign-off for internal communications and engagement activity from executive and senior leadership sponsors.
- Manage delivery of employee engagement and wellbeing surveys with external providers, including action planning and associated communications.
- Produce and publish internal communications content across channels, ensuring it is accessible, consistent and aligned to strategic priorities.
- Develop and implement the internal response as part of wider crisis communications, as required.
Key skills and experience required:
- Senior-level experience developing and delivering evidence-based internal communications and engagement strategies within a large, complex organisation.
- Experience working on large-scale transformation programmes, using change impact analysis to inform communications approach.
- Proven ability to counsel executives and senior leaders on internal communications and engagement in a fast-paced, matrix environment.
- Strong skills managing online channels, including intranets and e-newsletters, alongside video capture and editing.
- Ability to influence and negotiate with senior stakeholders, and to communicate complex or sensitive issues persuasively to varied audiences.
- Experience designing, writing and evaluating content across a range of internal communications channels.
