The Opportunity

We are working with a major global organisation to appoint a Senior Internal Communications Manager to play an important role in the continued development of its internal communications function.

This is a senior and highly visible position, working closely with business leaders and senior stakeholders to develop and deliver communications that engage employees, support organisational priorities and strengthen the role of internal communications as a strategic partner to the business.

The successful candidate will combine strong internal communications expertise with excellent stakeholder management skills. This is an environment where senior stakeholders have high expectations, so the ability to build credibility, provide constructive challenge and offer clear strategic counsel will be particularly important.

The role

Working as part of an established communications function, you will:

  • Develop and deliver internal communications strategies aligned with wider business priorities.
  • Act as a trusted communications adviser to senior leaders and stakeholders.
  • Translate complex business priorities into clear, engaging communications for employees.
  • Lead communications around key organisational initiatives, change programmes and leadership activity.
  • Support and advise on executive communications, including leadership events, town halls and other employee engagement.
  • Work with stakeholders to move beyond individual tactical communications towards more strategic, audience-led approaches.
  • Identify opportunities to improve channels, content and employee engagement.
  • Use insight, data and feedback to evaluate communications and demonstrate impact.
  • Contribute to the continued development of the organisation's wider internal communications strategy and capability.

The person

We are interested in speaking with experienced internal communications professionals who can demonstrate:

  • Significant experience operating in a complex corporate or similarly large organisation.
  • Strong strategic internal communications capability alongside a willingness to remain hands-on when required.
  • Excellent senior stakeholder management and influencing skills.
  • Confidence challenging constructively and providing clear communications counsel.
  • Experience supporting senior executives and leadership teams.
  • The ability to operate effectively where there are multiple stakeholders, competing priorities and demanding deadlines.
  • Strong judgement and an understanding of how internal communications can contribute to wider organisational performance.
  • Experience of change, transformation or complex organisational communications would be particularly valuable.

This could suit someone currently operating at Senior Internal Communications Manager, Head of Internal Communications or equivalent level, particularly within a large corporate, financial or professional services, regulated or other complex organisation.

The organisation is looking for someone who can bring fresh thinking to the function while building strong relationships across the business. It is an opportunity to have genuine influence over how internal communications evolves and how the function positions itself as a strategic partner to senior leadership.
