The Opportunity

Are you a policy, public affairs or communications recruitment expert with experience of appointing interim experts?  Ellwood Atfield has been established for almost 25 years and has an unrivalled track record in the corporate affairs recruitment market. We are passionate about the world of corporate affairs and pride ourselves on delivering exceptional outcomes for clients across the corporate, government, not-for-profit and membership sectors. Our client portfolio includes global banks, pharmaceutical companies, energy providers, Government regulators, charities, campaigning organisations, leading strategic consultancies, and trade associations.

As organisations increasingly seek flexible talent solutions, our interim and freelance practice continues to grow. We're looking for an ambitious, commercially minded individual to work with our Head of Interim practice and help develop this exciting area of the business, connecting organisations with outstanding interim and freelance communications, policy and public affairs professionals.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with proven recruitment experience, with exceptional client & candidate management skills, and who thrives in a fast-paced environment where every day is different.

Alongside recruitment, you'll work with colleagues to deliver our industry-leading events and thought leadership programme, including market insight reports, the Annual Political Cartoon Awards and interim networking events.

You'll bring:

  • Recruitment, talent solutions or account management experience – ideally gained across communications, policy or public affairs.
  • Excellent relationship-building and stakeholder management skills.
  • Commercial awareness and the ability to spot opportunities to support clients with interim, freelance and permanent hiring needs.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and strong written communication skills.
  • Curiosity, resilience and the confidence to build relationships with senior clients and candidates.

What you'll do:

  • Build and grow Ellwood Atfield's established interim and freelance recruitment offering with existing and new client partners.
  • Develop trusted relationships with clients, understanding their organisational challenges and advising on flexible talent solutions.
  • Source, engage and manage a high-quality network of interim and freelance professionals, matching exceptional people with exciting opportunities.
  • Manage interim assignments from briefing through to placement, ensuring an outstanding experience for clients and candidates.
  • Provide market intelligence, salary insights and strategic workforce advice.
  • Identify new business opportunities and contribute to the continued growth of our practice.

In return, you'll join a collaborative, market-leading team with an outstanding reputation, working with some of the UK's leading organisations while playing a pivotal role in the continued growth of our interim practice. You'll have the opportunity to build long-term relationships with clients and candidates, shape careers and become a trusted adviser in one of the UK's most respected specialist recruitment businesses.

We offer hybrid working, flexible hours, investment in training and development, 28 days' annual leave, a paid one-month sabbatical after five years' service, private healthcare, and a structured career development pathway.

Ellwood Atfield is an equal opportunities employer, committed to creating an inclusive workplace where everyone can thrive.
