External Communications Manager
The Opportunity
We are partnering with a high-profile organisation in the FMCG sector to recruit an External Communications Manager to join its’ newly established Corporate Affairs team. This is a pivotal role, and is ideal for a strategic thinker with a flair for storytelling, strong media handling experience, and a passion for brand reputation.
The Opportunity:
You will lead the development and execution of external communications strategies across corporate, consumer, and trade media. Working closely with external agencies and internal teams, you will shape narratives on key topics such as sustainability, community, and innovation, while managing the press office and ensuring a consistent brand presence across digital and media channels.
Key Responsibilities:
- Create and implement integrated PR strategies and communications calendars
- Lead media relations, agency management, and reputation monitoring
- Develop and maintain compelling external narratives and media materials
- Oversee corporate digital platforms and define digital strategy
- Provide strategic counsel on media issues, supporting crisis and issues management
- Monitor industry trends and deliver actionable insights
- Support internal reporting and alignment with wider group communications
Key Experience Required:
- Extensive experience in external communications (in-house or agency)
- Proven media relations expertise and content development skills
- Experience of crisis and reputation management
- Highly organised, detail-oriented, and results-driven
- Strong stakeholder engagement and relationship-building abilities
- Creative, strategic mindset with a hands-on approach
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Interest in FMCG and current media trends
