The Opportunity

The organisation

CIEH is the membership and awarding body for the environmental health sector and has played a key role in influencing policy and environmental standards that have contributed to better public health.

The opportunity

As a Head of Marketing and Communications, you will play a vital role in boosting the visibility and brand awareness of CIEH. You will be responsible for implementing a communications strategy to ensure all communications work aligns with corporate objectives. You will also play a key role in delivering a marketing strategy to raise awareness of CIEH’S brand, services and products.

 

Main responsibilities

  • Ensure CIEH becomes the leading voice in environmental health issues, by developing a compelling communications strategy.
  • Collaborate with the Policy and External Affairs team to ensure all campaigns are integrated.
  • Responsible for the development of CIEH’s brand including overseeing risk and reputation management whilst devising a robust crisis communications response strategy.
  • Lead on the delivery of corporate or professional standards campaigns.
  • Developing strong ties with members including maintaining existing numbers and identifying opportunities to increase membership.
  • Take responsibility for developing content across various channels including press, website and social media.
  • Responsible for developing a marketing strategy which promotes services, qualifications and CIEH products.
  • Coordinate events and conferences including networking and training events.
  • Utilise data insights and analysis to review success of existing marketing strategies.
  • Responsible for managing a team and ensuring a collaborative, high functioning department.

Key skills and experience required

  • Demonstrable experience of working for a professional membership organisation or relevant third sector organisation with commercial activities.
  • Strong record of creating effective membership marketing strategies which have delivered against income/acquisition targets.
  • Ability to communicate complex information to a diverse audience across a variety of channels.
  • Strong team management and budget management skills.
  • Able to work at pace and balance competing priorities.
  • Experienced in analysing and reporting on marketing effectiveness.

Additional information:

  • Hours of work are 35 per week - normally 9 - 5pm but we are very flexible and work life balance is important to the organisation
  • Salary £55,000 - £60,000
