Interim Public Affairs Analyst (6 month FTC)

A leading trade association representing over 300 member organisations, this is a respected voice in UK policymaking. It helps shape the national agenda through expert analysis, advocacy and collaboration with senior leaders across sectors.
The opportunity
This6-month fixed term role sits in a fast-paced Public Affairs team, tracking what’s happening in Parliament and supporting a busy political engagement programme. You’ll be the eyes and ears across Westminster –monitoring legislation, select committees and government priorities – and distilling this into clear, useful updates for senior colleagues and members. You’ll also support delivery of the party conference programme and contribute to a governance group of senior members.
Main responsibilities
- Track legislation, select committees and political activity, producing timely and digestible political briefings.
- Contribute to political engagement planning and delivery, including support for the party conference programme.
- Work closely with a senior governance committee to support delivery of agreed priorities.
- Join monthly policy calls to stay informed and engaged with sector-wide issues.
- Collaborate across teams, managing a busy agenda and identifying issues as they arise.
Key skills and experience required
- Experience working in a public affairs position in parliament, in-house or in an agency.
- Understanding of Parliament,legislative process and political scrutiny mechanisms.
- Background in politics, Parliament, a trade body or policy environment.
- Confident summarising political developments clearly and concisely.
- A strong collaborator who enjoys teamworking, with the confidence to challenge where needed.
- Organised, detail-focused and able to juggle multiple priorities.
