The opportunity

Ellwood Atfield are supporting a high-profile membership organisation that plays a leading role in policy and regulation across the UK. They act in the public interest, shaping debate on key issues that matter to business, government, and society.

The Policy and Public Affairs Manager will build trusted relationships with parliament, government, regulators, and industry stakeholders. You will shape and promote positions on issues including sustainability, tax, governance, regulation, and economic crime. Working with senior leaders, you will provide political insight, strategic advice, and deliver impactful engagement to protect and enhance the organisation’s reputation.

Main responsibilities

  • Develop and promote policy positions on priority issues.
  • Monitor political developments and identify opportunities to influence.
  • Build strong relationships with government, parliament, and regulators.
  • Provide briefings, risk analysis, and political insight to senior leaders.
  • Lead campaigns and events to raise the organisation’s profile.

Key skills and experience required

  • Significant experience in public affairs, policy, or parliamentary engagement.
  • Strong knowledge of UK politics and policymaking processes.
  • Proven ability to influence and build senior-level relationships.
  • Political judgement and experience navigating sensitive issues.
  • Line management experience, or the potential to manage and develop others.
