The Opportunity

The opportunity

ChargeUK is the voice of the UK’s electric vehicle (EV) charging sector. Our members install and operate the charge points powering the UK’s transition to EVs and net zero. We represent their interests to government, regulators, and industry partners, ensuring policy and regulation support the growth of a world-class charging network.

The role

As Policy Manager, you’ll develop and deliver evidence-based policy positions that help accelerate the UK’s shift to electric mobility. Reporting to the Head of Policy and Public Affairs, you’ll lead work on key policy areas, such as grid reform, HGV charging, energy regulation and planning, building consensus among members and engaging credibly with senior stakeholders across government and industry.

Main responsibilities

  • Lead development of policy positions across assigned dossiers and drive them forward.
  • Produce high-quality consultation responses, briefings, and position papers.
  • Engage with members through committees and working groups to build shared views.
  • Develop strong relationships with government, regulators, and industry stakeholders.
  • Represent ChargeUK externally to promote our policy priorities and support advocacy.

Key skills and experience required

  • Proven experience in policy development within government, trade bodies, or regulated sectors.
  • Deep understanding of energy, infrastructure, or transport policy.
  • Strong analytical and writing skills, able to translate complex topics clearly.
  • Confident communicator with excellent stakeholder engagement abilities.
  • Self-motivated and adaptable, comfortable owning policy areasin a small, fast-paced team.
