The Opportunity

The opportunity

Our client, a major digital infrastructure provider, is looking for a highly capable and strategic Public Affairs & Public Relations Senior Manager to shape, lead, and deliver on external reputation, stakeholder influence, and policy engagement efforts.  This is a senior role responsible for integrated public affairs and communications campaigns that protect and grow the company’s licence to operate, influence the regulatory and political landscape and secure share of voice in a competitive and regulated environment.

 

Main Responsibilities

  • Lead engagement with government departments at all levels, local authorities, regional mayors, devolved administrations, and parliamentarians
  • Develop clear strategies to influence planning reform, infrastructure policy, and legislative frameworks, protecting the interests of the business and     industry
  • Lead strategic advocacy campaigns to defend market position and win share of voice – targeting press, social media, government, and influencers
  • Support leadership visibility and engagement through thought leadership, stakeholder events, and public speaking opportunities
  • Own the proactive and reactive press and media strategy to shape perception and respond to risks
  • Handle media relations, press statements, and issues/crisis management with confidence and speed.

 

Skills and experience required

  • Extensive experience in a senior public affairs, PR, or corporate affairs role, within a regulated industry such as telecoms, infrastructure, energy, utilities, or transport
  • Proven ability to influence, defend, and grow brand reputation through fully integrated public affairs and communications strategies
  • In-depth understanding of how UK government operates – including policy development, planning processes, local authority dynamics, and regulatory     frameworks
  • Skilled in crafting messaging, managing media, navigating sensitive issues, and speaking confidently both internally to senior leadership and externally on panels
  • Commercial awareness, strategic thinking, and the ability to handle complexity in a fast-moving environment.
