We are currently seeking an outstanding professional communicator to join the Electoral Commission's team as a Communications Officer, to assist the new Public Affairs Manger to successfully deliver the Commission’s objectives. This position will play a crucial part in helping to deliver a more positive, proactive, energetic and campaigning approach to the Electoral Commission’s public affairs activity.

The person in this role will need to use their initiative and excellent judgement to solve problems and achieve outcomes that meet the Commission’s objectives. Reacting to fast-moving issues – such as political finance investigations or electoral administration matters – will be combined with a need to support the development of long-term plans to build relationships and protect and enhance the Commission’s reputation.

  • Support the delivery of key public affairs campaigns
  • Deliver effective public affairs support to internal clients
  • Report to senior management on political activity

Experience

  • Experience writing briefings and responding to requests for information
  • Excellent written skills
  • Great interpersonal skills

This is an exciting time to join the Commission and to be part of driving a new agenda to support our democracy. The Electoral Commission offers excellent terms and conditions, including flexible working hours and the opportunity to join the Civil Service pension arrangements (dependent on scheme rules) which include a valuable range of benefits.
