Media Relations for Associations

Gareth Harding first dealt with how to engage  journalists so that they will take up your story line. He mentioned the need to address your audience via a means and language that is adapted to the intended readership before informing about how to pitch a story. He then described how to present a newsworthy press release and underlined the use of visuals such as video, photos, infographics etc. Gareth focused on which platforms to use to develop a good relationship with journalists, mentioning  twitter in particular. Finally, he urged participants to prepare for interviews thoroughly, rebut false stories in writing and don’t shoot the messenger!
