Why do you choose to work at EA?

Ellwood Atfield has had a busy start to the New Year and due to our recent successes, is looking to expand our team with a number of key hires that will help us grow substantially over the next 12 months. We know moving roles is a big decision, and over the coming weeks wanted to share insight from some of our colleagues as to why they decided to join Ellwood Atfield and why they enjoy working here. “From speaking to candidates and clients in the communications space, I consistently heard excellent things about Ellwood Atfield, and I wanted to work for an agency that specifically recruited to communications and advocacy roles and thus were experts in their field. After being put through my paces, I was delighted to be offered the job as Deputy Head of Interim Practice.

I have been at EA for 3 years now, and in that time have been promoted to Head of Interim Practice, hosted events, billed (and earnt) substantial fees and my team recently celebrated our best-ever month. I love working alongside recruiters and ex-practitioners; the mix of experience in the team is particularly advantageous when it comes to sharing knowledge. The past few years have been tough on the industry as a whole, but the reciprocal relationships which have been nurtured over time have resulted in an extensive network of communications professionals, who truly trust and buy into the people-centric ethos of EA.

Whilst it’s unrealistic to expect anyone to will Monday mornings to come around quicker, or sing along to the sound of the morning alarm, receiving stimulation from your job and those around you contributes hugely to your day-to-day happiness.”

“Moving into a new position at graduate level, even under normal circumstances, always has its anxieties and challenges, especially during a pandemic. As a graduate with limited recruitment experience, I was concerned I wouldn’t be able to offer the experience potentially expected of me. I knew I hadn’t been fully trained, and certainly knew I wasn’t a 360 consultant. However, the training and development I have received has enabled me to have a very successful first 6 months and I have already overachieved my yearly target.

As a politics graduate, the opportunity to work with policy and public affairs professionals was something impossible to ignore. Within my first month, I was able to work with a wide variety of clients and candidates alike that completely grip my political interests. The opportunity to work on the health and social care desk at such a topical time for healthcare was also extremely fulfilling.

The culture and values of Ellwood Atfield came to light throughout my interview process. Having been with my previous employer for a significant period, I had to be sure I found a company that matched the values and work ethics that I could relate to. Everyone I met was impressive, insightful and offered a sense of understanding and reassurance that careers can be built at Ellwood Atfield.

I don’t think there’s another business out there that matched EA’s reputation and reassurance during the process, of how I could achieve both my personal and professional goals. Ultimately, it’s turned out to be one of the best decisions I’ve made. If you have an interest in current affairs or politics and enjoy developing relationships and forging careers, without doubt Ellwood Atfield should be top of the list of where to apply.”
