Exciting role in fast paced team at leading UK health regulator

Ellwood Atfield is partnered with a high-profile health regulator to appoint an Assistant Strategic Engagement Manager.

The postholder will be part of the Strategic Engagement team, which is responsible for planning and managing a portfolio of strategic relationships to help them deliver their ambitious corporate strategy and improve their relationships over time.

This is an exciting mid-level appointment which will suit a candidate who is ready to progress to manager level. Ideally you will have some line management experience, either with direct reports or in managing colleagues on a project basis.

The Assistant Strategic Engagement Manager will play a leading role in:

  • Providing timely and accurate intelligence and advice and identify opportunities to engage and influence effectively, working with colleagues in communications, policy, operational and other external affairs teams. 
  • Planning, managing and developing a portfolio of complex relationships which are strategically valuable to the regulator’s work, building strong working relationships with counterparts in their partner organisations, and providing strategic advice to colleagues based on your in-depth understanding of the relationships in your portfolio.
  • Own relationships with organisations including BMA, NHS and others.
  • Providing effective and inclusive line management to the Strategic Engagement Officer.

Candidates do not have to have a background in health, but be adaptable and interested in the health stakeholder and issues landscape. The role would suit a an ambitious senior officer/adviser, who has gained some experience of managing, from a stakeholder engagement or public affairs background.

This is a hybrid role between home working and office working, with a minimum of 2 days a week in the office with Tuesdays as a core day for the team, flexible working can also be accommodated.
