An exciting Deputy Head of Events position

The opportunity

Our client, a high-profile membership organisation are looking for a Deputy Head of Events, to deliver a programmes of events aligned to business priorities– covering the full range of practice development, knowledge dissemination, member development, member networking, and policy making, to support the lobbying and improvement objectives of the priority areas. You will therefore need sound knowledge of Local Government and the political sphere.

Main responsibilities
 

  • Lead the delivery of the Annual Conference, managing all aspects of planning, income, expenditure and promotion as required including negotiating contracts with suppliers, income generation and sponsorship management
  • Consistently manage high quality presence at third party conferences and events, including matching external speaking requests to speakers and making sure a forward grid of opportunities is maintained and promoted internally
  • Work closely with communications and other colleagues to develop an annual programme of events to meet group business priorities, policy, practice, improvement and commercial objectives. Initiate programme ideas, advising policy staff, Executives and leading members on the use of events to achieve lobbying, improvement and commercial objectives.
  • Propose and implement a range of event activity within own portfolio area – identifying commercial topics, high profile speakers, target audiences and undertake all aspects of organisation and delivery.  Undertake a pro-active role in researching and developing systems for marketing, booking, payment and evaluation of events.
