The Opportunity
Our client is seeking an experienced Director on an interim basis to join the consultancy with an immediate start (contract length TBC but likely 3-6 months). This role will focus primarily on providing senior strategic counsel, leading key client relationships and ensuring exceptional delivery across a varied portfolio of accounts.
This is an ideal opportunity for a seasoned public affairs leader who thrives in fast-paced advisory environments and can quickly build credibility with senior stakeholders. The successful candidate will play a central role in maintaining the high standard of strategic advice and client service the consultancy is known for, while providing senior leadership and guidance to the team.
Working across a portfolio of high-profile corporate organisations and international government clients, this Director will bring a steady hand, strong judgement and a commitment to delivering thoughtful, impactful work.
Main Responsibilities
• Provide senior strategic counsel to clients, developing integrated public affairs and communications strategies that deliver measurable impact
• Lead and nurture key client relationships, acting as a trusted adviser to senior stakeholders
• Oversee account delivery across public affairs, policy and communications programmes to ensure consistently high-quality work
• Support teams in the delivery of complex client programmes, providing senior oversight and guidance where required
• Mentor and support consultants across the team, strengthening capability and ensuring best practice in client work
• Monitor political and policy developments to inform client strategies and identify emerging risks or opportunities
• Contribute to the leadership and smooth running of client accounts during a period of growth and change
Skills & Experience
• Significant experience in public affairs, strategic communications or political advisory roles within a consultancy or agency environment
• A strong understanding of UK politics and policy, with well-developed networks across the political and stakeholder landscape
• Proven track record of managing senior client relationships and providing trusted strategic counsel
• Experience leading and mentoring teams within a consultancy environment
• The ability to quickly step into complex client portfolios and provide confident, steady leadership
• Excellent communication, judgement and stakeholder engagement skills
• A collaborative, pragmatic approach with a focus on delivering outstanding client outcomes
