The Opportunity
About the organisation:
Ellwood Atfield are supporting a large further education college group who offer a wide range of academic, vocational, and technical programmes for young people and adults, with a strong focus on learner success, employability, and progression.
The opportunity:
The External Relations Officer will play a central role in shaping how the College is represented externally, working across multiple teams and stakeholders. This role will focus on building strong relationships with media and other external audiences, creating compelling stories, managing press activity, and supporting the college’s reputation through effective communications.
Main responsibilities:
- Write engaging news, announcements, and stories for media and external channels
- Proactively build and maintain relationships with journalists and media outlets
- Respond to press enquiries and support interviews and briefings
- Support crisis communications activity when required
Key skills and experience required:
- Relevant experience in Media, Press, PR or Journalism
- Strong news sense and experience producing media-ready content
- Excellent writing, editing, and storytelling skills
- Strong track record of proactively building relationships with journalists
