The Opportunity

The opportunity:

Ellwood Atfield is thrilled to be partnering with a leading professional body to recruit a Lead Internal Communications Manager. This is an influential role at the intersection of culture, people, and communications, ensuring colleagues are informed, engaged and aligned with the organisation’s strategy and values.

This role is well‑suited to someone who thrives in a busy environment, brings structure and focus to complex organisations, and is highly skilled at translating information into clear, purposeful communications. You will act as the organisational lead for internal communications, working closely with senior leaders and the People team to drive engagement, support change, and build a strong, informed internal culture across the organisation.

Main responsibilities:

  • Develop and deliver an internal communications strategy aligned to organisational priorities
  • Lead employee engagement activity, including all-staff events, leadership briefings, staff forums, and employee voice initiatives
  • Advise senior leaders on communications, culture, change, values, and people-related messaging
  • Oversee and improve internal communication channels, including the intranet, while creating clear, high-quality content
  • Use employee insight to shape communications, manage reputational risk, maintain the annual communications calendar, and line manage one team member

Key skills and experience required:

  • Proven experience developing and delivering internal communications strategies and campaigns
  • Excellent written communication skills, with the ability to translate complex information into clear, engaging messages
  • Strong stakeholder management skills, with confidence advising and influencing senior leaders
  • Experience managing and improving internal communications channels, engagement, and change initiatives
  • Strong organisational skills, sound judgement, and the ability to balance priorities, risk, and business impact
