The opportunity
Our client is looking for an experienced Policy and Public Affairs Lead to leadthe development and communication of evidence-based policy positions acrossWales. In this role, you will play a central part in shaping and deliveringinfluencing strategies, while building and maintaining strong relationshipswith stakeholders across the Welsh Government and wider health sector.
You will work closely with researchers, healthcareprofessionals and external partners to amplify policy and campaign activity,ensuring the charity’s priorities are informed by robust evidence and capableof driving meaningful change. Main responsibilities
- Work closely with colleagues across the organisation to ensure alignment on policy and campaign priorities.
- Draft high-quality policy materials including briefings, consultation responses, reports and other written outputs on key policy areas.
- Ensure policy development is backed by a strong evidence base, informed by healthcare professionals and patient insight across Wales.
- Monitor the political and healthcare landscape in Wales to identify emerging risks, opportunities and influencing priorities.
- Collaborate with external organisations on areas of mutual interest to maximise campaign reach and impact.
- Work closely with public affairs colleagues to identify and deliver activities that support the charity’s influencing objectives.
- Build and maintain effective relationships with policymakers, healthcare leaders, clinicians and external partners across Wales.
- Represent the charity at key events and conferences, acting as a source of expertise on the Welsh political and healthcare landscape.
- Support the press and PR team to ensure policy and public affairs priorities are reflected in media activity and opportunities.
Key skills and experience required
- Experience developing and implementing policy and influencing strategies within a Welsh political environment.
- Strong ability to utilise data and evidence, including patient insight, to support policy development and influencing activity.
- Proven track record of delivering public affairs activity across Wales, with the ability to influence senior external stakeholders.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to represent the charity externally and communicate complex policy issues clearly.
- Strong project management skills, with the ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities and stakeholders.
Benefits
- Salary banding between £36,500 - £38,000
- Hybrid working, with 3 days per week in the Cardiff office
- 25 days annual leave, plus an additional day for each full year worked (up to 30 days)
