The opportunity

Ellwood Atfield are working with a reputable trade association who are looking for a Policy Officer on a permanent basis. The organisation plays a key role in advising and supporting academics and industry leaders across the UK.

‍

In this role you will be responsible for supporting the Policy team to develop policy positions, draft responses to consultations and engaging with policymakers, whilst maintaining ties with external stakeholders– including volunteers and committees- to support roundtables, workshops and other public policy events.

Key Responsibilities

‍

• Drafting material from reports, briefings and panel activities to ensure policy positions are backed by solid research and evidence.
• Nurture relationships with a range of external stakeholders to understand industry and academic attitudes to key policy priorities.
• Optimise the impact of the organisation’s work by translating complex information into accessible policy briefings for Government.
• Collaborate with the Public Affairs, Marketing and Communications teams to plan the release of information and shape engagement.
• Support with stakeholder mapping and coordinating events.

Skills Required

‍

• Strong understanding of policy development and stakeholder engagement within a large, complex environment.
• Strong communication skills, with an ability to tailor complex information to a diverse audience.
• Ability to build strong ties with different stakeholders and demonstrate political awareness.
• Experience in project management and working at pace.
