The Opportunity:

We have partnered with a leading trade association in the financial services sector to recruit a Senior Policy and Public Affairs Manager on a 12-month, fixed-term contract. This is an exciting opportunity to lead the organisation’s and industry’s response to key policy areas, engaging with senior government and industry stakeholders while building and maintaining the organisation’s reputation. The ideal candidate will have both policy and public affairs experience and be well-versed in engaging with and influencing senior stakeholders.

Key responsibilities:

• Develop and implement a policy and public affairs strategy in line with the association’s strategic goals
• Maintain and grow its profile and influence in Westminster, Whitehall and across the UK  
• Lead UK political engagement, managing relationships with MPs, Ministers, and civil servants
• Develop policy content and oversee delivery of briefings, meetings and roundtables
• Help align policy, public affairs and communications messaging to further the organisation’s strategic objectives
• Mange one direct report.

Key skills and experience required:

• Experience in both public affairs and policy is essential
• Demonstrable knowledge of UK policy-making processes and parliamentary procedure
• Experience of operating at a senior manager level, with line management experience
• Proven experience of stakeholder engagement at a senior level
• Experience of advising senior leaders and providing political insight.
