Did you know that the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) was founded only in 1961? This relatively young international non-governmental organisation, has left its Panda paw mark across the globe.
It is the world’s largest conservation organization with offices and operations around the world. The mission is to stop the degradation of the planet’s natural environment and to build a future in which humans live in harmony with nature.
Exciting Times and New leadership:
A new President was appointed to the Board of WWF International very recently in November 2017, providing renewed impetus and direction.
Pavan Sukhdev is the former head of UNEP’s Green Economy Initiative. He is a true thought leader in sustainability and a highly influential voice among policy makers.
Pavan stated, “I am delighted to be joining WWF at such an exciting time as the organization emerges from a significant transformation and is defining new ways of working to make a difference at a scale that matters, to redefine humanity’s relationship with the planet. The role:
The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in enabling WWF to achieve its strategic goals. He/she will act as a high-level enabler and facilitator, serving the constituent WWF offices, providing strategic leadership on EU matters and forging meaningful alliances with key stakeholders. Also acting as office leader, the successful candidate will empower and motivate senior staff to achieve their respective policy goals and will act as the WWF representative for EU institutional relations. With proven leadership skills and an excellent track record, the new Director will inspire externally and internally.
