TEAS is seeking an experienced senior-level lobbyist to co-ordinate its Brussels office.

The Director will be responsible for the engagement with the EU, as well as international institutions outside of Belgium, such as the OSCE and the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe. This is a rewarding position for a candidate that has 15+ years’ experience in a similar role, either as a public affairs practitioner or in some capacity for a European institution, governmental or intergovernmental body.

Outputs and Accountabilities:

  • Manage the Brussels office day to day by providing leadership and direction, retaining a constructive work environment and ensuring a consistently high quality of output
  • Provide effective lobbying on relevant EU policies and legislation affecting Azerbaijan’s business and other interests
  • Develop strong relationships with MEPs, Commission staff and Permanent Representatives
  • Provide reliable monitoring, reporting and forecasting of key political and regulatory developments and trends

Preferred Candidate Experience:

  • An excellent understanding of the political structure and workings of the European Parliament and other European institutions (Council, European Commission, and associated organisations)
  • Extensive experience and knowledge of the working processes of the OSCE, NATO, UN and other multilateral bodies
  • Excellent understanding of the EU instruments involving Azerbaijan (ENP, Eastern Partnership, etc.)
  • Exposure to the issues and working environment surrounding the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict and Minsk Group process
  • Established contact book/network including parliamentarians and other third party stakeholders in Brussels and wider Europe
  • A general interest in/knowledge of Azerbaijan and the South Caucasus region a distinct advantage

Candidate skills:

  • Ability to manage an extensive workload across a multitude of issues while taking on the responsibility for the day-to-day managing of the Brussels office (currently a staff of 3 people)
  • A high level of IT literacy, including knowledge of databases and Microsoft Office suite. Proven online research skills expertise and content analysis. Knowledge of Apple Mac operating systems advantageous
  • Fluent written and spoken English and French. Additional languages advantageous
