ESOA is looking for a bright, articulate & proactive communicator to head the public affairs team.

The Head of Public Affairs promotes the interests of ESOA members with key public and private sector stakeholders and decision-makers at all levels across Europe and internationally. The successful candidate will support the Secretary General and ESOA Working Groups directly in other activities, such as engagements with the broader ICT community, administrative activities and running the ESOA back-office.

The successful candidate will:

  • Be able to set ESOA apart and deliver the industry’s story in innovative, smart and engaging ways (in close cooperation with the ESOA SG);
  • Be a passionate advocate for the satellite communications industry and have the ability to stand out from the crowd;
  • Be inspired by the possibilities that connectivity and digitalization can bring to people’s lives and be able to inspire that in others;
  • Lead the delivery of ESOA’s Public Affairs presence in Brussels, managing relations with all stakeholders from the EU institutions, trade associations, industry partners and media in coordination with ESOA Secretary General and engage within EU institutions and other institutions on relevant dossiers;
  • Manage meetings (including Board Meetings) & events;
  • Manage communications activities (e.g. manages website & twitter account; drafts press releases);
  • Organise and lead meetings with senior EU directors, Members of European Parliament, other European and ITU Region 1 organisations;
  • Monitor core subjects including attending hearings/ events/ meetings in European Parliament/ Council/ Commission and provide analysis & reporting to members;
  • Develop positions autonomously or in cooperation with ESOA’s resources and support the Secretary General in preparing positions, presentations, etc. including support in coordinating views of members, prepare project reporting documentation and Board presentations;
  • Provide logistics and administrative support like documentation management, office support & admin.

Essential requirements:

  • At least five years’ experience in a political/corporate/ communication/Regulatory/Public Affairs role.
  • A strong working knowledge of the EU institutions and a strong network of contacts in the European institutions.
  • A knowledge of telecoms policy and technology.
  • Fluency in both written and spoken English with excellent writing skills.
  • Effective presentation and persuasion skills.
  • Computer literate (MS Office including word/ excel/ PowerPoint).
  • Results-oriented team player with ability to meet tight deadlines.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organisational skills, efficient time/task management as well as ability to handle multiple priorities.
  • Flexibility to adapt and deliver on multiple, diverse tasks simultaneously.
  • Willingness to travel if required.
  • Trustworthy.
