Leading International Charity to appoint a Senior Media and Communications Manager

They directly contribute progress in society towards a fair and sustainable future for all. Having embarked on a renewed strategy with a clear goal to increase social progress in the UK and around the world. To get there, they need to ensure that they appear meaningfully in the media and that their vital work is visible among their target audiences.

The Opportunity

As Senior Media and Communications Manager, you will be an integral part of their award-winning team, growing their profile and visibility through mainstream media and specialist press, focusing on their banking and financial services arm who offer innovative financial products for their charity partners. This is also a critical year for the charity as they embark on an exciting change and transformation programme to re-platform their technology of their banking arm and this role is pivotal in lead the communications for this project.

Main responsibilities

  • Development and delivery of all external communications, media engagement, and reputation management for the charity and banking and financial services arm.
  • Identify media coverage to enhance their brand and position among target markets and understand the use of media as a tool to influence policymakers.
  • Lead on planning and delivering communications activities for key projects, such as research report launches or new products and services.
  • Act as a lead player in the press office function to ensure it provides credible, professional, and timely media relations, including undertaking appropriate media monitoring.
  • Hold the key for content, translating technical issues into newsworthy and engaging content.
  • Play a key role to protect and enhance the corporate reputation proactively identifying and managing issues and risks, and adeptly minimising negative attention if it arises.
  • Counsel senior stakeholders, including the CEO, on external communications, issue management and crisis communications.

Key Skills Required
 

  • Proven experience in media relations and executing PR strategies and issue management and crisis communications, ideally within the financial services sector or regulated sector, or from an agency background where you have worked with financial services clients.  
  • Excellent writing and content skills, with good attention to detail and the ability to translate complex concepts in an engaging and accessible manner.
