The Role

The Brunswick Group is looking to recruit a senior member of their Brussels’ team. The Brussels office delivers public affairs and strategic communications services to clients across a breadth of sectors, notably financial services, technology, and energy. The new hire will ideally have experience in at least one of these areas but also be able and willing to switch between clients from different sectors.
This individual will work collaboratively and seamlessly with partners and others in the U.S. and within Brunswick’s global organisation to provide strategic counsel and hands-on support to clients, while contributing to the growth of Brunswick’s capabilities and client base in the Brussels office.
This skilled professional will be a thought leader with a crisp executive presence, keen intellect and well-honed instincts that enable him/her to serve as a credible and trusted advisor to top leaders in business and government. S/he will have a record of effective experience in strategic communication, crisis management, reputation building and stakeholder engagement.

Outputs and Accountabilities - Working collaboratively within the Brunswick group, this individual will:

  • Provide advice and counsel to Brunswick’s clients at the head of communications, senior executive, CEO and board level
  • Manage/execute client work, including long-term retainers and short-term projects, and form “best teams” within Brunswick to provide optimal support and service for clients
  • Develop and originate new business by expanding the scope and depth of existing client relationships or introducing new clients to Brunswick’s resources and capabilities
  • Represent Brunswick in high level spheres of influence towards the local and global business community and towards EU institutions and stakeholders
  • Lead, inspire and develop Brunswick associates in the Brussels office and worldwide
  • Manage financial objectives and the profitability of client work.

The successful candidate must possess:

  • Hands-on experience in public affairs, media relations, crisis management, mergers and acquisitions, reputation building, and organisational communications for well recognized global organisations, either as an in-house leader or external counsel
  • Experience in developing relationships and serving clients in a high-touch, fast-paced business environment. Ideally, the candidate will have professional experience in EU Affairs acquired in a consultancy environment
  • Well-developed networks in media, business, and political spheres of influence and a deep network of contacts with EU institutional stakeholders
  • Experience providing advice, counsel and coaching to CEOs and top corporate leaders
  • Experience conducting high profile thought leadership in communications

Applicants for the position should preferably have worked in or have developed significant expertise in one or more of the following areas:

  • Technology, Media and Telecommunications
  • Environment policy
  • Competition policy
  • A University Bachelor degree; advanced degree preferred.

In addition, the ideal candidate will be:

  • Highly collaborative and able to demonstrate a record of success in organisations where collaboration and teamwork are essential
  • Intuitive with a high EQ and enjoy working in a Partnership-focused organisation
