Excellent opportunity to join a leading transport association as a Strategic Planner

The Opportunity
 The Strategic Planner will produce and support the long-term planning activities and initiatives to promote change in the transport sector.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Support the organisation's long-term railway planning activity and initiatives ensuring these are appropriately reflected by funders and specifiers in their plans, with input as required
  • Deliver high quality services for industry stakeholders
  • Provide advice to inform rail-related long-term plans, in particular by representing the views of  freight operators with funders, planning authorities and infrastructure maintainers.  This will include strong engagement at senior management level
  • Develop ideas aligned to  business priorities that are aimed at stimulating change in the industry.

Key skills and experience:

  • Undertake research, gather and analyse data and information using appropriate analytical techniques, and engage stakeholders
  • Contribution to the reparation of papers to deliver high-quality briefings, board papers, and reports
  • Represent the body and its members on the Investment Review Groups, including close liaison with sub-national transport bodies, and other regional teams.
  • Galvanise support across the sector for improvements from external stakeholders through the long-term planning process
  • Support the preparation of papers to deliver high-quality briefings, board papers and reports
  • Coordinate industry meetings – taking ownership of industry meetings as required.
